You probably have seen on Instagram that we’ve been to Croatia this year and of course I had to do a travel post for you guys! Traveling is a great way to relax and recharge your batteries and Croatia is a great place to do so! For that reason, I decided to tell you the 10 things you should definitely do when you’re in Croatia (or  on vacation in general). Here we go:

1. Discover

Yea, I know this is like totally obvious but I’m not talking about the typical tourist spots. Try to escape those typical habits, to go where everyone else is going.. to eat where everyone else is eating. We often prefer to google the hot spots to see what everyone else is doing and what we should do and where we should go. These are the times where we go with the flow and where we don’t really see what’s to see. Put on some comfy shoes and take a walk, a long walk (but try to not get lost, like we did in Croatia 😀 #truestory ). Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

2. Relax by the sea

You might now think „I do that anyway, that’s why I’m on vacation“ but let’s be honest: Do you really relax? Is the beach you’re „relaxing“ at full with tourists? Do you hear all the noise around you?
Well, I think we can agree that this is not really relaxing. Instead, try to find a place where you can really relax, without the crowd. You don’t have to do that every day but try it at least once, I’m sure you’ll love it. We luckily booked our apartment far away from all the tourists, we even had our little private beach which was amazing! We could totally recharge our batteries.

3. Have early breakfast in town

This is the best way to start the day, trust me! In the early morning around 8 there’s almost no one in town. The cafés are almost empty, you don’t have to wait for a table. You can enjoy a great breakfast without waiting for it forever. You get the best table with the best view. Everything’s prefect. Can a coffee taste any better?

4. Buy yourself a souvenir

Whenever we travel, we always make sure that we buy a souvenir that will always remind us of that trip. If you haven’t done this yet, I highly recommend you to start doing that. Buy something that will always remind you of a great time. We prefer souvenirs that we can put in our apartment and where we see it everyday, like this little boat below. A young boy at the age of 15 was selling these boats which his father makes by himself. We fell in love with this one right away. Now it’s on our desk in our home office. I also got this bracelet you see below because I just loved it and also because I wanted something I can wear.

5. Visit a National Park

We have been to Croatia twice and both times we visited a National Park, Plitvicer Seen and Krka. Both parks are beyond belief although I kind of liked the Plitvicer Seen National Park a bit more. Maybe because it was huge and again – not so crowded. But that might have seemed because of the size.
We packed lunch so we could have a picnic while strolling around. It was breathtaking! ..or have you ever had a picnic by a waterfall? Definitely something you should do!
Here’s a link to the national parks in Croatia.

6. Go scuba diving

I’ve always wanted to go scuba diving and this year we finally did it! Words can’t even describe how stunning this was! We went to the Trogir Diving Center (which I can absolutely recommend if you’re in this area) and had our first diving excursion! Everything was very professional and we felt that we were in good hands. We even got to feed fishes!!! Say what?!! Best.moment.ever. That’s something you’ll never forget, believe me. Thank god we filmed the diving excursion with our Go Pro otherwise I’d think it was just a dream! Definitely something you should do, don’t be afraid! You’ll love it!

7. Go on a boat tour

Whenever we get the chance, we do a boat tour on our vacations. I just love them (not only because we always get to see dolphins) because they’re a great way to spend a whole day in different beautiful places. You get a meal, drinks and snacks during the tour and you stop at amazing places where you can swim for one or two hours. The blue lagoon was my favorite place during our boat tour, the water was incredibly clear.

8. Go snorkeling

On our boat tour we also got some diving fins, diving goggles and a snorkel so we could snorkel in the blue lagoon. We had pretty much fun even though we didn’t see so many fishes. Also, this is the perfect prestage for scuba diving!

9. Have a barbecue

This year, we’ve been a group of six and we had our own house with a grill. Of course we had to have a barbecue (maybe not only one). If you’re traveling as a group, this is a great way to end a day. If you’re in a hotel but want to have a private barbecue you might just look for a spot where you can have one (don’t disregard the laws!).

10. Do the banana

If you love having some action, you should do the banana! This was SO much fun, I would have done it 10 times in a row! (but my arms couldn’t take it). If you don’t like the banana you can jet-ski or go parasailing. They’re all super fun!
