The other day, I was talking to a friend about all kind of stuff and the subject ‚productivity‘ came up and how she can save time, especially during the morning. Well, when it comes to time planning, I’ve become sort of a pro! 😀 Preparation is the key word and it honestly will save you so much time, believe me! So, let’s start right off with my tipps for saving time in the morning:
Prepare outfit the night before
Mhm, we all know – the struggle is real! What am I gonna wear today? Does this shirt even go with that skirt? I have absolutely nothing to wear!! This is something you definitely should not be thinking about in the morning because, even though you don’t notice, it steals valuable time from you. Therefore, choose your outfit the night before, try it on if necessary so you don’t have to make big changes in the morning in case something does not match.
Shower night before
As much as I love showering in the morning, it just costs me so much time that I now do it the night before. Showering, shaving, blow-drying my hair in the morning? – bye bye extra hour!
Make a To-Do list
To-Do lists are super important for me because that way I don’t forget all the things that need to be done. Especially when I’m stressed out and having lots of projects going on, I tend to forget some tasks. I used to write my to-do lists every morning until I realized how much time it took. Therefore, I think of all the tasks that need to get done the next day and write them down the night before. That way I know exactly what I have to do when I wake up and I can get started right away!
Clean your home
This is an important aspect if you’re working from home. Working from home makes it so much harder to stay focused – trust me, I know what I’m talking about! Sentences like ‚I’ll just do the dishes from last night very quickly‘ or ‚I’m just gonna clean up my workspace really fast‘ and ‚Oh, I forgot to vacuum yesterday, I’m just gonna do that very quickly and then get started‘ sound very familiar, don’t they? Make sure you clean everything that needs to be cleaned the night before so it doesn’t distract you from work in the morning.
If possible, you can even prepare your breakfast or lunch the night before. I usually eat fruits with yoghurt in the morning so I cut the fruits the night before and put them in a small container (and they’re still fresh in the morning 😉
Do your hair the night before
If you decide to go for a hairstyle that takes up a bit more time, you should prepare as much as possible in the evening. For example, if you have straight hair and you wanna go with curls, curl your hair the night before, pin them to your head and sleep with it. That way, the curls still look amazing in the morning and you save looots of time – because, we all know those 5-minute-curls don’t take 5 minutes……
To be honest, this has been a very challenging part for me! 😀 I loooov to push the snooze button and stay in bed for just a few more minutes.. Well, those minutes usually turn into half an hour.. Time, that I could have used much better – like enjoying my cup of coffee or going on a walk with my dog. So, if you like to press the snooze button as well, stop it and get up when the alarm goes off. I’ve also noticed that I’m less tired when I get up right away.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? I used to check my phone first of all. I mean, that little light on my phone was blinking the whole time, telling me that I’ve received messages and it just didn’t stop until I checked them all.. So, I did what I had to do and checked all the emails and messages I’ve received and oh, since I was on the phone already, I just checked Instagram and Facebook very quickly… Well, I’m sure you know where this is going.. All those things cost you extra time so you might not want to do them right after waking up..
So, these are my personal advices on how to safe time in the morning. This is how I usually do it and it has helped me a lot! Do you have any tipps on how to save time? I’d love to know them! Just leave a comment below!
Lots of Love,
